We are often defined by what we do to earn a living; a lawyer, a doctor, an auto mechanic, a nurse, a teacher, a scientist, a bus driver, a builder, a librarian. By profession, Warren Freedenfeld is an architect, well respected in his field and who is passionate about his work. To be able to live ones work is a very fortunate plateau to reach. If we each had more than one life to live we might devote our other lives to other endeavors that time only allows most of us to dream about doing. Yet there are some who somehow make the time to live their dreams. Aside from the love of architecture, Warren’s other passion is photography.

Warren’s interest in photography came somewhat unexpectedly. As an architectural student at Syracuse University, he loved to draw and sketch images of the world around him. Often frustrated by the lack of time, he began to photograph what he could not find the time draw, intending to draw later what he only had time to photograph. Over time, Warren’s photography began to take on a life of its own, becoming a passion eventually taking him on journeys with his camera specifically to capture images of the world around him that would speak to him in personal and relevant ways. Most of these photographs have been taken primarily in Western Europe, Eastern United States and Western United States. Each image tells a story, a story that each viewer may perhaps understand with a relevance that may be interpreted differently through their own life’s experiences, each finding their own personal message. Warren’s work seems to capture the heart and soul of what he photographs. There is no special lighting, no manipulation of subject matter, and no poses orchestrated. The images are bits and pieces of the world captured as they are at spontaneous moments.

Today it is our intent to share these images and make them available to those who also may find them relevant and to those of you who feel they also speak to you as well. Thus we decided to refer to this website as Relevant Photography.
